Narrative adventure 1666: Amsterdam Announced for PC and Consoles

Panache Digital Games has announced 1666: Amsterdam, a dark third-person narrative action-adventure game planned to launch first for PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, followed by unspecified consoles at a later date. The full game does not have a release date yet, but players can already enter its world through a free prologue available now, designed to introduce the setting, characters, atmosphere, and central mystery through roughly 30 minutes of gameplay.

The new project from the Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey studio is set in Amsterdam in 1666, a city built on wealth, power, and determination, but shaped by forces that existed long before its rise. The story revolves around the Originals, entities that have lived among humanity for centuries. They were granted time, power, and freedom, and their long abuse of those gifts has created a debt that now has to be paid.

The central figure is Noa Brooklyn, born as the Collector and raised by the Zaindaris for a purpose she never chose. The prologue follows Noa’s Commencement, the moment when she begins to take on the mantle of the Collector and understand the role waiting for her. Alongside her is Aaron, pulled from 1999 and now forced to experience the world through the eyes of a cat, immediately tying the mystery to a wider timeline rather than a single historical setting.

1666: Amsterdam spans three timelines: 1666, 1999, and the present day. Each era reveals pieces of a larger truth, while the roots of the conflict reach back to 1333, when contracts were sealed and Amsterdam fell under a hidden influence that lasted for centuries. The prologue also introduces an early choice involving the companion who will walk beside Noa, setting up an adventure focused on occult power, inherited roles, broken cycles, and a world hidden behind the familiar one.
