God of War Laufey announced for PS5, with Faye in the lead role

Sony Interactive Entertainment and Santa Monica Studio have announced God of War Laufey for PlayStation 5. The new chapter in the series puts Laufey, also known as Faye, at the center of the story, after her death and with Kratos and Atreus now at risk. No release date has been announced.

The game moves into the Everywhen, a realm where gods and creatures from different mythologies compete for power in a world tied to magic. Faye’s journey is framed around speed, control, and precision, and she is joined by two companions: Phranque, voiced by Jack Quaid, and Rue, played by Perlina Lau. Deborah Ann Woll returns as Faye after God of War Ragnarök.

Two of the gods shown for the Everywhen are Sekhmet and Begtse, underscoring the range of mythologies involved in the setting. The announcement positions Laufey as a Faye-led entry rather than a Kratos-focused one, with PlayStation 5 as the only confirmed platform so far. That shift matters because it places a familiar character from the Norse saga at the center of a new conflict, instead of using her only as supporting lore.

There is still no release window, but the reveal already outlines the structure of the adventure: a myth-crossing afterlife, a small supporting cast, and a protagonist whose combat style is built around speed and control.
