Xbox Game Studios and Ninja Theory have announced Senua, a new action adventure game set in the Hellblade universe. It will launch in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store. The project is not being presented as a simple numbered sequel, but as a standalone story and an accessible entry point into Senua’s journey, while keeping memory, pain, fear, and perception at the center of the experience.

Senua is a Celtic warrior trapped between life and death inside a fractured vision of purgatory. Her goal is to reach the afterlife and reunite with the people she loved and lost, but the path is blocked by forces that threaten everything she believes in. The world around her is not just a physical place to cross. It is shaped by her mind, her memories, and the emotional weight of what she has not been able to leave behind.
Gameplay will combine exploration, tactical combat, and perception-based puzzle-solving. Players will move through a fantastical and unsettling vision of purgatory, uncovering truths and lies behind Senua’s search for inner peace. The setting is defined by myth, memory, and pain, but also by an invading golden force described as both beautiful and poisonous, a threat that presses against the world and against Senua herself.
Combat will place Senua against creatures born from fear, destruction, and suffering, along with fantastical bosses rooted in myth. The system is built around visceral tactical action, with weapons to master, dual-wielding in the chaos of battle, and powerful abilities to unleash against monsters of the mind, gods, spirits, and mythical beings. Senua aims to carry the immersive visual and audio identity of Hellblade into a standalone adventure about defiance, choice, legacy, and the difficult path toward peace.
