Flyway Games has released a new animated trailer for Waltz and Jam, a top-down puzzle action adventure in development for PC via Steam. The video combines previously unseen gameplay with hand-drawn animation, offering a broader look at Downtown, its unusual afterlife setting, its two heroes, and the systems built around their partnership. The game does not have a release date yet, but players can already follow its progress through the official Waltz and Jam website.

The adventure follows Waltz, a lost and innocent ghost, and Jam, his loyal spirit puppy. Together, they travel through Downtown, a mysterious magical afterlife inspired by the seven deadly sins, while trying to reach the Gate of Judgement. Their journey is not only about moving through strange and colourful locations, but also about the relationship between the two protagonists, which is positioned as the emotional core of the experience.
Waltz and Jam have very different but complementary abilities. Waltz can use clever gadgets and collectible toys found throughout the journey, tools designed to interact with the environment and overcome obstacles. Jam, meanwhile, can unlock transformative powers that reveal hidden routes, alter the space around the pair, and help solve puzzles. Those abilities can also become crucial in combat, making the spirit puppy an active part of gameplay rather than a companion limited to the story.
Downtown will be divided into seven interconnected realms, each filled with secrets, dangers, and distinct places to explore. The route toward the Gate of Judgement will include environmental puzzles, mysterious tools to collect, enemies to confront, and towering bosses. Those encounters are expected to require strategy, timing, and coordinated use of both characters’ abilities, keeping the partnership important even during the game’s most demanding moments.
The trailer’s visual style is one of its clearest strengths. Waltz and Jam uses a comic-inspired presentation with hand-drawn animation, expressive environments, and a tone that moves between spooky charm, playful humour, and more melancholic moments. Its afterlife is not portrayed as a place defined only by darkness. It is also a world full of curiosity, unusual figures, and details that encourage players to look closely at every new area.
Flyway Games describes Waltz and Jam as a journey through life, loss, and destiny without abandoning the immediate appeal of a puzzle-focused action adventure. The new trailer gives a clearer sense of its balance between exploration, puzzles, combat, and companionship. Release timing and more detailed progression information have yet to be announced, but the project already has a highly distinctive visual and narrative identity.
