Thimbleweed Park 2 has been announced for PC and will launch through Steam in 2028. Terrible Toybox is returning to its deeply strange town with another dead body, a fresh investigation, and a mystery that already looks ready to become complicated long before it offers a solution. This time, the victim is found at Edmund Mansion, where Agents Ray and Reyes are expected to investigate the case. Their involvement is immediately treated with some uncertainty, leaving open the possibility that nothing is quite what it appears to be.
The setup takes the form of a classic murder mystery filtered through the humor and absurdity of Thimbleweed Park. Everyone inside the mansion is a suspect, and the detectives will eventually have to confront the killer, assuming they can identify and locate them. The butler has already been ruled out, while the end of the investigation is expected to create more questions than answers. The official website for Thimbleweed Park reflects the original game’s surreal identity, where decaying locations, eccentric residents, and bizarre technology made a dead body seem like one of the town’s smaller problems.
Terrible Toybox describes the new game as neither a straightforward sequel nor a conventional prequel. It is, however, firmly rooted in the classic LucasArts-style point-and-click formula, with pixel art, puzzles, comedy, and an investigation designed to grow stranger with every turn. The original Thimbleweed Park launched in 2017 after a Kickstarter campaign from Maniac Mansion co-creators Ron Gilbert and Gary Winnick. It featured five playable characters whose stories gradually became connected, while the free mini-adventure Delores expanded the setting in 2020.
Players who have not visited the town yet currently have a cheaper opportunity to catch up. The original game holds a 92 percent positive rating across its overall Steam user reviews and is available at a 75 percent discount until August 5. The promotion reduces its price from €19.99 to €4.99. Playing it introduces Ray, Reyes, and the town’s wider cast before the Edmund Mansion case begins, although the deliberately ambiguous position of Thimbleweed Park 2 suggests that its relationship with the earlier mystery may not follow a simple chronological path.
