Mexican Ninja unleashes its roguelike beat ’em up on August 20

Mexican Ninja will launch on August 20, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. Amber and Madbricks confirmed the date with a new trailer, while a fresh PC demo is available now. The game combines 2.5D beat ’em up combat with roguelike progression, fast movement, and a setting that crashes Mexican attitude into Japanese cyberpunk.

The action unfolds across Nuevo Tokyo, a city born from cultural collision and now controlled by the Narkuzas, a ruling class created when narcos and yakuza joined forces. A rebellion is forming against the clan’s five leaders, sending the Mexican Ninja through hostile streets with tight combos, precise dodges, spirit powers, and exaggerated techniques known as Mexican Jutsus.

Each run reshapes progression through randomized encounters, evolving builds, and layered permanent upgrades. Combat rewards timing, positioning, and mastery rather than uncontrolled button-mashing, while still drawing from the direct energy of arcade brawlers. Abilities collected during a run can be combined into different crowd-control and damage options, giving players room to build a personal fighting style.

Longer-term growth is handled through the Way of the Donkey skill tree, which expands the character’s strengths between attempts. Returning runs open more opportunities to test new powers, discover stronger combinations, and push further through the city. Mexican Ninja keeps its tone loud and irreverent, but its combat systems are built around precision, learning enemy behavior, and adapting whenever a new run changes the available tools.
