Kumarn Brings Thai Folklore Horror to PC in 2027

Kumarn: The Wandering Spirit is coming to PC in 2027 via Steam and the Epic Games Store, with Wired Productions handling worldwide publishing and WereBuff Studio leading development. The game is the debut title from the Thailand-based studio, built as a cinematic single player horror adventure shaped by Thai folklore, stealth, environmental puzzles and tense platforming.

The announcement lands ahead of Gamescom 2026, where Kumarn will be playable at the Indie Arena Booth. That makes the Cologne show an early hands-on stop for players interested in narrative horror, unsettling visuals and smaller-scale games with a strong cultural identity. The structure sits close to the kind of cinematic horror adventure associated with Little Nightmares and Reanimal, but the atmosphere leans into a darker vision rooted in Thai beliefs, spirits and ancient stories.

The story follows Kumarn, a young child spirit, and Zeb, his loyal companion. They were once guardians of a village where humans and spirits lived together in harmony, offering luck, prosperity and protection to the people who called it home. A forbidden ritual tears them away from their shrine and throws them into a nightmare world of whispering forests, forsaken villages and forgotten temples, where old folklore has taken a hostile, physical form.

Kumarn is not built around direct combat. Survival depends on staying hidden, moving carefully and finding safe routes through places watched by twisted creatures and restless ghosts. Players need to use shadows, distractions and environmental problem-solving to escape beings far stronger than themselves. The sacred lamp adds another layer to traversal and stealth, allowing Kumarn to manipulate the environment, create pathways and hide his presence from the horrors hunting him.

The horror comes from more than jump scares. Each spirit is tied to tragedy, supernatural power and a deadly presence, turning folklore into a constant threat during the journey home. Kumarn and Zeb give the adventure an emotional anchor, framing the darkness around a vulnerable wandering spirit searching for peace rather than a hero trying to overpower the world around him.
