POSTAL 2 Redux will launch in spring 2027 for PlayStation 5 with PlayStation VR2 support, PlayStation 4, PC via Steam with VR support and Quest, with more platforms planned later. The rebuild brings back Running With Scissors’ infamous sandbox shooter for a new generation, with Impact Reality, Flat2VR Studios, Team Beef and original team members involved.
The setup remains the same kind of volatile week in Paradise, Arizona. The POSTAL Dude can try to complete ordinary errands, from buying milk to returning an overdue library book, but the town is built so a quiet day can collapse into absurd violence, riots, physical accidents and player-driven chaos at any moment.
Redux is not being positioned as a simple visual clean-up. The game has been rebuilt in Unity 6, with higher-resolution textures, updated lighting, shaders and materials, plus a level streaming system designed to make movement through Paradise smoother than in the 2003 release. Modern controls and console optimization also matter, especially because this version marks the series’ PlayStation debut.
The sandbox is still the core. Paradise reacts to the player through smarter NPC systems, dynamic AI, rebalanced combat and a more physical environment. Players can behave like a relatively harmless citizen or turn each objective into open mayhem, using weapons, objects, melee attacks and emergent situations to shape the week in their own direction.
Virtual reality is another major part of the return. POSTAL 2 Redux is planned with VR support on PC and PlayStation VR2, alongside the Quest version, which could make the game’s interactive spaces feel more immediate. For a series built on poking systems until they break, that perspective is more than a technical extra.
Champ, the POSTAL Dude’s canine companion, is also returning with expanded interactions. Players will be able to pet him, bring him along and use him in less conventional ways during the chaos of Paradise. The project also reflects a strong community push, after a Kickstarter campaign reached its goal in a single day and led to open development with fans.
