Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember will launch on March 4, 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store, with Game Pass availability also confirmed. Koei Tecmo and Team NINJA have paired the release date announcement with a free alpha demo, available now on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC until September 30, 2026.
The sequel brings back the fast combat of the original Wo Long, built around constantly shifting between attack and defense, while adding new movement and counterattack options. Insight Skills let players evade incoming attacks, use terrain to their advantage, and reverse difficult situations when outnumbered, with more acrobatic actions that can even send the character above the battlefield before striking.
The structure also expands into larger open fields based on famous battles from the Three Kingdoms era. Changban and the Battle of Red Cliffs are among the confirmed locations, with mountain fortresses, strongholds hidden in valleys, and environments designed to give players more freedom in how they approach each challenge.
Morale remains an important part of survival, but the battlefield now offers additional strategic choices. Enemy officers can be recruited to the player’s side, simultaneously weakening opposing forces and creating new ways to shift momentum during larger encounters.
The alpha demo lets players explore Changban, fight alongside Liu Bei’s army against Cao Cao’s pursuing forces, and encounter demons inspired by legendary Chinese classics. It also includes an in-development character creation system and online multiplayer for up to three players. Completing the demo rewards players with the Fledgling Phoenix Helmet for use in the full game.
Pre-orders are already open for the Standard and Digital Deluxe editions. The latter includes a Season Pass with two major DLC releases planned by August and October 2027, alongside a digital art book and mini soundtrack. Players tracking the March launch can add Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember to the Playority Calendar, saving it to a personal account for customized notifications and updates on release timing, platforms, and availability.
