DANGEN Entertainment and NANAIRO ENTERPRISE have announced LitGirls: Bookbound Dungeons, a dungeon crawler RPG that reimagines characters and settings from classic literature as anime-inspired girls and dangerous expeditions. The PC version is scheduled to launch on Steam in the first half of 2027. Console versions are planned, although their platforms and release dates have not been specified. This is the next game from the developer of TurretGirls and the second entry in its “Girls World,” exchanging that game’s railgun combat for exploration and turn-based battles.

Players will build a party inspired by figures including Alice, Juliet, Dante, and Raven, then travel through worlds drawn from literary works. Their dungeons contain winding routes, monsters, traps, resources, treasure, and bosses. An expedition has an objective to complete, but success also depends on getting the party back out with what it has collected. Going farther in search of useful rewards means weighing those rewards against the possibility of losing a team member along the way.
Between missions, the party returns to the Astral Scriptorum, a base outside ordinary space and time. Resources brought home can be spent on strengthening the girls and developing the base. Players then choose skills and equipment and decide who belongs in the team for the next trip. The loop connects exploration to preparation: what a party manages to retrieve affects the options available when it sets out again.
Combat takes place in turns, with the girls occupying four ranks and enemies positioned in formations of their own. Each girl receives one action per turn, making her position and the timing of an ability consequential. Survival also involves managing two separate conditions. HP measures physical health, and further attacks after it reaches zero can cause a character’s death. Pathos reflects mental state; if it is depleted, even a surviving fighter can lose the will to continue. The game also includes visual changes to equipment as characters take damage.
LOGOS adds another choice to party preparation. These collectible words can be equipped for passive benefits or called upon during a battle, giving players another way to respond when a fight turns against them. Selecting LOGOS alongside the team’s skills, equipment, and formation broadens the possible approaches to an expedition. The soundtrack features music by Yoshitaka Hirota of Shadow Hearts and Shoji Meguro of Persona.
The announced languages include English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese, with more to be named later. A separate 18-plus PC version is also planned for another storefront, with details still to come. Players can follow the PC launch window and eventual console dates through the Playority Calendar, where games can be added to an account for release updates.
