Cresata, Side-Scrolling Action Platformer, Announced for 2027

Rocket Panda Games has announced a partnership with Shatter Flask Games and Acttil to bring Cresata to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam in 2027. Previously known as Revenant’s Reach, the project is a side-scrolling action platformer that aims to combine the pace of classic arcade games with more modern ideas around movement, verticality, and online competition. Before its planned launch next year, the game will also be the focus of a Kickstarter campaign scheduled for late 2026.

Cresata draws inspiration from games such as Strider and Castlevania, while also taking cues from modern retro platformers like Celeste. Its goal is to create an adventure that is easy to understand at first but difficult to truly master, with combat built around precision and movement control. The Cresata Arts system will let players dash, deflect attacks, retaliate, and cut through enemies with offensive sequences that reward speed, timing, and confident execution.

Grappling mechanics will be one of the game’s central tools. Players will be able to tether themselves to parts of the environment, swing across spaces, and use the Slingstrike technique to reach new positions or strike enemies. That system should make exploration feel less linear than in a traditional platformer, opening routes that combine jumping, dashing, grappling, and aerial movement instead of relying on simple forward progression.

The visual presentation is taking a distinctive approach as well. Cresata combines 2D pixel art characters and sprites with three-dimensional environments that rotate as players move through them. The idea is to create deeper, more dynamic locations without abandoning a retro-inspired look. Replayability will also come from Ghost Races, where players can challenge the leaderboard ghosts of the fastest runs and improve their own routes, times, and use of the game’s movement abilities.

The story begins after the fall of New Arsica. Leo Vennghast demanded that Phaedon and Lasila push their Ouranite research beyond accepted limits, but their refusal sparked a civil war between noble houses. As Reclaimer forces closed in, Lasila piloted the island of New Arsica to the summit of Satelles Peak to keep it beyond Vennghast’s reach. The strain of maintaining its gravity field eventually caused her to merge with the living ore, while Vennghast seized power and imprisoned Phaedon.

The voice cast will include Ben Starr and Aleks Le, who is also serving as co-producer and casting director. Cresata is still some distance from release, but its mix of technical combat, grappling movement, 2D and 3D environments, and leaderboard ghost races already gives it a defined place among upcoming action platformers.
