Croc 2: Kingdom of the Gobbos is returning as a remaster for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC via Steam and GOG. Argonaut Games announced the revival of the 3D platformer originally released in 1999, although no launch date has been confirmed. The project continues the series’ comeback after the 2025 remaster of Croc: Legend of the Gobbos, preserving the sequel’s structure while updating its presentation for modern hardware.
The story begins when Professor Gobbo catches the Dantinis resurrecting Baron Dante and is taken prisoner for seeing too much. Meanwhile, Croc finds a bottle washed onto the beach with a message inside: his birth parents are searching for him. His trip to the mainland starts as a personal search, but quickly becomes another confrontation with Baron Dante, who wants revenge on the small crocodile responsible for his earlier defeat.
Exploration spans more than 40 open-ended levels spread across four villages with distinct cultures: the coastal Sailor Village, snowy Cossack Village, prehistoric Caveman Village, and mountaintop Inca Village. Croc must rescue captured Gobbos, complete varied missions, and collect crystals to spend at Swap Meet Pete’s General Store. The enterprising cat sells useful gadgets and can teleport Croc between villages with his Crystal Ball. Jumping and tail-spinning return alongside a new triple jump, while vehicles include cars, speedboats, minecarts, a hang glider, and an airplane.
The remaster also brings back several unusual Guardians, including Soveena the Squid, whose obsession with Ginger Soda threatens Sailor Village; pirate captain Cannon Boat Keith and his skeleton crew; and Flavio the Thermal Fish, who attacks with scalding water. Environments, characters, and visuals are being refreshed without abandoning the original game’s platforming and puzzles. A new Croc2pedia digital museum will collect design documents, marketing materials, promotional merchandise, animation tests, galleries of 3D models for characters, levels, and cut content, plus interviews with original Argonaut staff and the developers and producers working on the remaster.
