Shrek 2 Remastered returns November 10 with four-player co-op

DreamWorks Shrek 2 Remastered launches November 10 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Publisher Aspyr has priced the release at $29.99. It brings back the action-adventure game inspired by DreamWorks’ animated film, originally released in May 2004 for PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, and PC.

The remaster returns players to the fairytale kingdom of Far Far Away, taking them from Shrek’s swamp to Fiona’s castle. The adventure combines battles against familiar enemies and bosses with environmental puzzles. Players can switch between different heroes whenever they want, using each character’s individual abilities to overcome obstacles and progress through the story.

Cooperative play is a major part of the package. Up to four people can play together locally on the couch or through online multiplayer. The remaster also supports mixed sessions, allowing local players to team up with friends connecting over the internet. Solo play remains an option, so none of the cooperative features are required to complete the adventure.

Aspyr has updated the game’s presentation with improved textures, an enhanced user interface, 4K resolution, and reworked cutscenes. The new Photo Mode allows players to capture scenes from their journey, while Cheat Mode provides unlockable cheats that can change how a playthrough unfolds. Familiar locations and characters from the film return alongside hidden Easter eggs scattered throughout the levels. The result is a new release of the 2004 adventure rather than a different Shrek story, with its character-swapping gameplay and cooperative structure intact.
