Halo: Campaign Evolved Remakes the Original Campaign in July

Halo: Campaign Evolved has a release date. The full remake of the Halo: Combat Evolved campaign will launch on July 28, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store. The game will also be available through Game Pass, giving the original Halo campaign a broad modern rollout across console and PC. In Japan and select Asia-Pacific markets, the launch will fall on July 29 because of regional timing.

The project is not only a visual return to the 2001 campaign. Halo: Campaign Evolved includes the original ten-mission campaign, but every edition also comes with Operation: METEORITE, a new three-mission story arc. This additional campaign takes place one year before the events of the first game and follows Master Chief and Sgt. Johnson during a clandestine UNSC operation behind enemy lines, aboard a Covenant research vessel.

What begins as a direct smash-and-grab mission quickly becomes more complicated once Chief and Johnson discover that the operation is not as simple as expected. Operation: METEORITE is designed to expand the remake with new locations, new enemy variants, more weapons from across the Halo series, and fresh ways to interact with the Halo sandbox. The new trailer shows the player fighting alongside UNSC forces, pushing through Covenant-controlled areas, facing threats such as the Brute Berserker, and even bringing the battle into space.

The new story arc was developed in collaboration with science-fiction author Troy Denning, whose previous work has helped shape parts of the Halo universe through several novels. His involvement gives Operation: METEORITE a direct link to the broader fiction of the series, while grounding the new missions in the military sci-fi tone expected from Halo. The goal is to add a new event to the history of Master Chief and Johnson without replacing the structure of the original campaign.

Pre-orders are available now on Xbox, Steam, and PlayStation. All editions include the full game, the original ten missions, and Operation: METEORITE. Pre-ordering any edition grants the Foundry Armory Pack, which includes the Classic 2001 Mark V Armor skin, the Classic 2001 Assault Rifle skin, the Gilded Onyx Armor style, and the Gilded Onyx Assault Rifle style. The Standard Edition is priced at $49.99, £49.99, or €59.99.

The Premium Edition is priced at $69.99, £69.99, or €79.99 and includes up to five days of early access beginning July 23, the Alpha Halo Armory Pack, and the Digital Story & Art Collection. That collection includes Halo: Hungry Buzzards, a new digital short story by Troy Denning leading into Operation: METEORITE, along with The Art of Halo: Campaign Evolved digital artbook and a digital manual inspired by the original 2001 Halo: Combat Evolved manual. The Collector’s Edition, priced at $199.99 or €199.99, adds a 12-inch Dark Horse Master Chief statue, a light-up LED Cortana chip, a Steelbook, three concept art prints, a physical reimagined manual, and a game disc for Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.
