Kena: Scars of Kosmora has been pushed into 2027. The team says it needs additional time to polish a game built on a larger scale than its 2021 debut, Kena: Bridge of Spirits. Alongside the revised release window, it has shared more about the island of Kosmora and the crystalline canine spirit that will help Kena travel, fight, and solve puzzles.
The sequel remains a character-focused, linear adventure, though its world will offer more to players who leave the main path. Kena has spent years studying as a Spirit Guide, helping the dead move on when their pain manifests as Corruption in the surrounding environment. Her next journey asks something different of her. She has experience healing others, but has not fully confronted her own pain or explored what her role could mean for people who are still alive.
Kena travels to Kosmora to meet her childhood friend Orfio, who believes the island holds answers about their past and her future as a Spirit Guide. Four cultures once flourished there, each connected to a guiding element, until a mysterious cataclysm destroyed one of them. The surviving cultures still live with the influence of their elements, even as the spiritual knowledge once held by Kosmora’s ancient Spirit Guides has faded. Kena’s search will bring her into contact with the people and difficulties of each region, as well as the island’s buried history.
The Alchemystic Temples will be a major part of that journey. These dungeon areas are designed to test players’ skills and provide rewards that change what Kena can do as her adventure continues. Her new canine companion offers another way to cross the larger island, serving as a mount tied to Kosmora’s origins. The spirit will also assist in combat both while Kena is riding and when she is on foot, and help her work through Alchemystic puzzles.
