Jotoyo has announced Monster Fantasy, a PC action RPG that pairs giant monster hunting with more relaxed life simulation elements. The game is planned for Steam, but it does not have a release date yet. Before launch, the project will be the focus of a Kickstarter campaign beginning on July 15. Its main idea is to create a fantasy world where major battles and the process of building a personal life can exist side by side, leaving players free to decide how much time they want to spend adventuring and how much they want to spend on slower activities.

The story takes place in the Kingdom of Eldoras, where players step into the role of an amnesiac hero. From there, they can follow a more traditional route by taking on quests and hunting huge monsters for materials and rewards, or slow things down with fishing, gathering, woodcutting, mining, cooking, and crafting. Monster Fantasy does not appear to treat those two sides as separate experiences. Crafted equipment, collected resources, and relationships with villagers are all meant to contribute to the game’s wider progression.

Combat will revolve around more than 50 giant monsters, each with its own behavior to learn before taking it down. Players can choose from four classes: Warrior, Mage, Archer, and Martial Artist. Every class will feature different combat mechanics, allowing players to focus on one preferred style or experiment with several approaches. Monster hunting will therefore provide challenge and materials, while also serving as one of the main ways to develop a character and prepare for tougher areas.

Defeated monsters will not always remain enemies. Monster Fantasy will allow players to tame them, turning them into companions that can grow and evolve. Players will be able to ride them across valleys, rainforests, icy plains, volcanoes, and other regions of the kingdom, as well as bring them into battle. The system is designed to make exploration feel more personal by connecting mobility, combat, and creature collection within the same progression loop.

Village life will be another major part of the game. Around 100 residents, each with their own personalities, interests, and strengths, will populate the central community. Building friendships and working alongside them will help players create a more welcoming home and shape a growing settlement. The game will also support online multiplayer, allowing friends to hunt monsters, build their village, and set out on adventures together. Monster Fantasy is aiming to combine the appeal of large fantasy hunts with a warmer experience built around relationships, gathering, and everyday progress.
