Game Source Entertainment, TVT, and Ratata Arts have delayed Ratatan to October 15, 2026. The rhythm roguelike action game had previously been scheduled for July 16, but the new date will apply to every version: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam. Ratatan is already available in Early Access on PC, while the delay moves its full release back by roughly three months.
The decision comes during the final stretch of development, with the team focusing its resources on bug fixes, production issues, and broader polishing work. Ratata Arts said the extra time is needed to reach the quality level it wants before the full launch. This is not presented as a delay tied to newly announced content, but as a choice aimed at improving stability, refinement, and the overall experience across a large number of platforms.
The Early Access process also played an important role. The team had not originally planned to develop the game through that model or to adjust it as much as it has based on community feedback. That conversation with players has led to changes that the developers believe have made Ratatan different, and ultimately better, than the original plan. The trade-off is a larger workload, especially with online support and a simultaneous release across consoles and PC still to complete.
Ratatan aims to combine roguelike action and rhythm mechanics, building an experience where musical inputs, squad management, and expedition progression all work within the same structure. The project is also a notable return for the team led by Kazuto Sakajiri, who has a strong connection to Patapon. That makes the delay more significant for a community that has been following the game for some time, but the studio believes postponing release is preferable to shipping a version that is not ready.
The new target is now October 15. Over the next few months, Ratata Arts will continue working on feedback-driven improvements, online support, and optimization for each version. Ratatan remains one of the more distinctive rhythm-focused projects planned for 2026, but its path to full release will require several more weeks of development.
