Gothic Action Game Slain 2 Adds PS5 and Xbox Versions

Slain 2: The Beast Within is coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, joining the previously announced PC version via Steam. Silver Lining Interactive and Steel Mantis confirmed the new platforms with a console reveal trailer, while PlayStation 5 will also receive a physical edition. A release date has not been announced yet, but the game’s identity is already clear: side-scrolling action, gothic atmosphere, and brutal combat built around a sentient blade.

The game continues the saga of Bathoryn, a living sword tied to multiple wielders and an endless war against the demonic forces of Lord Vroll. This time, the lead is Prince Akran, the last of the Wolf Knights, who takes up Bathoryn and the fury of the full moon to reclaim a dying land. The setup places the adventure inside a ruined world of haunted castles, shadow-soaked streets, cursed catacombs, and hostile spaces designed to feel oppressive from the start.

Combat is built around heavy melee strikes, precision attacks, and counters, with Bathoryn granting elemental powers such as fire and ice. The most distinctive mechanic is tied to Akran’s Wolf Knight blood. Under the full moon, the beast within emerges, letting him transform into a feral werewolf and tear through enemies with claws, teeth, and raw force. That mix of swordplay and monstrous power gives the action a sharper rhythm, shifting between controlled violence and direct, bestial aggression.

The structure is split across three main quests, each set in hand-crafted locations and built around the search for sacred relics: The Eye, The Heart, and The Dagger. Akran’s path will take him across ghostly seas, haunted fortresses, and abyssal depths filled with nightmarish enemies. Boss fights are also a major part of the design, with ancient spirits, vengeful witches, abyssal warlocks, and grotesque horrors created to test timing, reflexes, and mastery of the combat system.
