The Sinking City 2 is back with “Meat for the Grindmaws,” a 12-minute extended gameplay video for Frogwares’ Lovecraftian survival horror sequel. The game will launch on August 18 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG. Alongside the new footage, the studio confirmed that a fully featured New Game+ mode will be available at launch, while HDR support will arrive later through a free post-launch update.

New Game+ will let players restart the journey while carrying over their perk points, unlocked perks, and collected items. Returning to Arkham will open additional challenges connected to specific achievements, as well as cosmetic and gameplay rewards. Frogwares moved HDR into its post-launch support plans to prioritize the core game and launch features during the final stage of development. Most of the groundwork for the patch is already complete, with the studio expecting it to arrive shortly after release.
The Sinking City 2 takes place in a Lovecraftian vision of 1920s America. A supernatural flood has transformed Arkham into a decaying, partially submerged city, driving away most of its population and leaving its streets to desperate survivors and eldritch creatures. Players take control of Calvin Rafferty, an occult adventurer forced to confront the consequences of his reckless actions after a dreaming ritual leaves his girlfriend Faye trapped in a mysterious sleep.
Calvin’s search takes him through rotting apartments, flooded markets, and abandoned hospitals that can be explored on foot or by boat. Arkham is also overrun by the Slither, otherworldly creatures that possess dead bodies and reshape them into lethal puppets. Combat relies on an arsenal inspired by the 1920s, while scarce resources and limited inventory space force players to decide what to carry and what to leave behind. Deeper exploration also opens optional cases and puzzles, rewarding curiosity with secrets, upgrades, and additional pieces of the city’s story.
