Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 will launch on October 14, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam, with the Nintendo Switch 2 version following at a later date. The sequel from Auroch Digital brings back the retro FPS identity of the first Boltgun while expanding it through a more varied single-player campaign, new worlds, more weapons, more enemies and branching progression.
The story continues directly after Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun. The mission sends the playable characters to an isolated star system where increased Chaos activity points to something far worse. Malum Caedo and Nyra Veyrath soon face Vashtorr the Arkifane, a demigod who awakens a massive daemonic machine at the center of the planet and triggers a catastrophic explosion that destroys much of the Imperial fleet.
The two playable characters shape the sequel’s combat identity. Malum Caedo returns as an Ultramarines Sternguard Veteran, built around overwhelming force and relentless heretic-cleansing power. Nyra Veyrath, a Sister of Battle, offers a faster and more agile style, giving players another way to control the battlefield and burn through enemy hordes.
Gameplay remains focused on strafing, speed and brutal boomer shooter violence, but Boltgun 2 adds branching campaign paths and unique levels tied to those routes. The fight moves from the towering scale of a hive city to the heavy cover of jungle mangrove swamps, with weapons such as the chainsword and shotgun joined by new tools of destruction. Returning and new enemies include Nurglings, Chaos Cultists, Bloodletters and daemonic Juggernauts.
The release date trailer also features a first listen to an original track by Mick Gordon. A Steam demo is planned, giving PC players a chance to test the FPS flow before launch.
