GHOSTLESS is the new project from Coffeenauts, a hybrid between 2.5D action adventure and colony building planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam. A release date has not been announced yet. The game is set in a post-apocalyptic world ruled by artificial intelligence, where leading an uprising means fighting visible machine forces while also questioning the people brought back into the resistance.<\/p>\n

The setting begins in an alternate 20th century, 15 years after a Cold War cyber attack by the United States accidentally caused an experimental Soviet AI super-intelligence to turn against humanity. Players take on the role of the Envoy, sent to investigate rumors of a facility where the AI is creating a new secret weapon. That mission opens a dark science-fiction story built around humanity, creation, survival, and the truth behind a ruined world.<\/p>\n

Exploration takes place across rubble-filled streets, abandoned buildings, sewers, metro tunnels, Cold War bunkers, and laboratories. Each excursion is tied to scavenging resources, finding survivors, and fighting robotic enemies that search the land for human resistors. The action system includes melee weapons and guns, but some enemy strongholds are too dangerous for one person to handle alone, pushing the player back toward the resistance base.<\/p>\n

The base camp acts as the center of the uprising. Recruiting survivors, expanding the colony, and assigning new members to crafting stations allows the resistance to create better weapons and equipment for future missions. Camp size, health, and overall status all matter when preparing to break through enemy strongholds. Incursions turn those preparations into larger set-piece battles, with comrades fighting alongside the Envoy, orders to issue during combat, and new areas of the map unlocked after victory.<\/p>\n

The most dangerous threat is not always outside the walls. The Ghostless are android infiltrators disguised as humans, sent to undermine the camp from within. After returning from machine-controlled territory, the player may discover a sabotaged weapon station or a murdered comrade. Investigations involve analyzing clues, watching behavior, and interviewing recruits through a dynamic contextual dialogue system, then deciding who is hiding the truth. Executing the wrong person means killing an innocent, making paranoia part of both the story and the management layer.<\/p>\n

GHOSTLESS blends survival, exploration, colony-sim structure, investigation, and action into a sci-fi paranoia thriller. Its hi-fi pixel art style mixes retro pixel graphics with modern 3D lighting and visual effects, giving the ruined city a look that sits between side-scrolling action and cinematic depth. Every trip outside the base can bring resources, allies, and progress, but every new recruit may also bring the enemy closer to the heart of the resistance.<\/p>\n
