Whether to pursue that reward immediately is entirely up to the player.<\/p>\n<p>Exploration is designed around that freedom of choice. Rather than being pushed from one main quest objective to the next, players can accept work from villagers and traveling merchants, explore remote areas, and investigate dungeons along the way. Some of those locations will be too dangerous for an inexperienced party, however, so deciding when to venture deeper matters just as much as choosing where to go. The world is intended to reward curiosity without ensuring that every encounter is manageable from the start.<\/p>\n<p>Players will assemble their own group of adventurers instead of recruiting a predefined cast of companions. Battles play out in turns, with character placement and ability selection influencing the outcome. The bestiary spans familiar fantasy enemies and more formidable threats, including goblins, slimes, spectral knights, five-headed hydras, and storm giants. Different opponents have their own powers, tactics, and weaknesses, encouraging players to adapt their approach instead of relying on a single strategy.<\/p>\n<p>Hidden discoveries are another major part of the design. A trapdoor inside an ordinary mill might lead to an extensive underground cavern, and some encounters can even take place inside magical paintings. A pixel-art paperdoll system will also reflect equipped items directly on each character, from swords to worn wizard hats, with hundreds of pieces of equipment to find throughout the journey.<\/p>\n<p>Ormande is not meant to stand still while the party explores. Townspeople follow daily routines, weather changes, and day turns into night. Details about the setting are delivered through brief conversations and scrolls rather than lengthy exposition. <strong>Lair of the Leviathan is scheduled for 2027<\/strong> on PC via Steam and GOG, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
