Takumi Sumino è un adolescente come tutti gli altri che vive nel Complesso Residenziale di Tokyo, dove ogni giorno è uguale al precedente e non succede mai nulla di brutto. Almeno, fino a quando degli strani mostri non attaccano la città, seminando il caos. Una bizzarra creatura che si fa chiamare Sirei appare di fronte a Takumi e gli offre il potere per proteggere chi gli è caro. Tutto ciò che dovrà fare in cambio è... trafiggersi il petto!
Un istante dopo Takumi si ritrova nell'Accademia dell'Ultimo Baluardo, una scuola nel mezzo del nulla circondata da muri di fiamme ultraterrene. Lui e altri quattordici studenti sono stati arruolati nell'Unità Speciale di Difesa, una squadra con l'incarico di proteggere la scuola per i prossimi cento giorni. Cosa saranno disposti a sacrificare per riavere le loro vite e proteggere il mondo dai grotteschi invasori della scuola?
Si alza il sipario su cento giorni di guerra e disperazione...

Takumi Sumino is a totally average teenager living in the Tokyo Residential Complex, a place where every day is much like the last and nothing bad ever happens. All that changes when freakish monsters attack the town and start wreaking havoc. A strange creature calling himself Sirei appears and offers Takumi the power to protect those he holds dear... All he has to do is stab himself in the chest!
The next thing he knows, Takumi is in Last Defense Academy, a school in the middle of nowhere surrounded by a wall of otherworldly flames. He and 14 other students have been drafted into the Special Defense Unit, a team tasked with keeping the school safe for the next 100 days. How much are they willing to sacrifice to take back their normal lives and save the world from the grotesque school invaders?
