ProbablyMonsters has announced that Crimson Moon will launch in September for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. The game is a gothic action-adventure RPG set in the fallen city of Gildenarch, a place shaped by horror, faith, decay, and a violent crusade against the forces of Hell. Its premise is direct and grim: even angels bleed.

Players take the form of a Nephilim, a half-human, half-angel hybrid forged to defend humanity. That identity defines both the story and the combat, giving the protagonist supernatural powers, weapons, and brutal melee abilities. Gildenarch is not just a backdrop, but a city to reclaim district by district, moving through wards that grow more beautiful, corrupted, and hellish as the crusade pushes deeper into enemy territory.
The structure is built around savage replayable runs and high-risk missions. Each incursion becomes a ritual of resistance and transformation, sending players against evolving hordes of demons, undead, vampires, and Hellgrowth abominations before culminating in boss encounters with the fabled Dead Gods. Victories will unlock new missions, modifiers, and skill achievements, encouraging players to refine their approach and return stronger with each attempt.
Combat is described as souls-inspired, but its focus is visceral and expressive. Players will need to improvise, read enemy behavior, use melee tools with precision, and trigger executions unique to different enemy types. Angelic transformation adds another layer, granting temporary powers and devastating holy attacks that can turn a desperate fight into a brutal reversal when used at the right moment.
Crimson Moon can be played alone or in optional two-player cooperative mode. In co-op, the ally acts as an amplifier rather than a simple extra body, with shared lives, resurrection, and synergies shaping the flow of each mission. Dynamic difficulty scaling and changing enemy composition are designed to keep runs personal and unpredictable. Between incursions, players return to the Church headquarters, a home base used for permanent upgrades, NPC interactions, and planning the next mission through the War Table.
