Shroom and Gloom will launch in Early Access on September 10, 2026 for PC via Steam. Developed by Team Lazerbeam and published by Devolver Digital, the game is a first-person roguelike deckbuilder set inside hand-drawn dungeons filled with fungal enemies, strange weapons and increasingly absurd combo potential.

The central twist is its double-deck structure. The combat deck is used to survive fights, letting players slash, blast and roast their way through mushroom monsters. The explore deck handles movement through dungeons, card modification, new weapons and ability unlocks. That means deckbuilding is not limited to combat encounters, but also shapes how players move forward, open options and prepare for the next room.
Progression is built around constantly growing and reshaping cards. Low-level starters can become dangerous attacks, while rare cards can be modified into tools powerful enough to change an entire run. Healing also has its own grotesque rhythm: instead of focusing only on blocking damage, players can season, skewer, roast and eat enemies to recover health, or throw roasted foes into a pot to cook up useful soups.
The Early Access version will start with two distinct pathways, unique characters, roughly 300 explore and combat cards per pathway, multiple quests, synergies and unlocks designed for replayability. The current plan is to remain in Early Access for 12 to 24 months, with a new pathway, new character classes and additional challenges planned before version 1.0. Players can track its updates through the Playority Calendar, while more details are available on the official website for Shroom and Gloom.
