The setting comes from Ryu Fujisaki’s HOSHiN ENGi, the Chinese mythology fantasy manga serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump. The game tells an original story set after the manga’s ending, with Fujisaki personally overseeing the project and drawing a new protagonist created specifically for this adventure.

Players take the role of a young disciple of the legendary sage Taikobo, thrown into a world filled with immortals, demons, and mythic beasts. The cast includes familiar figures such as Taikobo, the shapeshifting Reiju Supushan, Yozen, Nataku, and Koh Tenka, with conversations back at base and banter during dungeon runs giving those characters a role beyond simple cameos.

Combat is built around Paope, mythic treasures used by gods and immortals. Main Paope define the player’s core offense, while Sub Paope change the flow of battle and open the way to different combinations. Each run becomes a chance to test builds, upgrade attacks, and find synergies that can handle the enemies and rewards placed along the route.

The protagonist also fights alongside a Reiju companion, which works both on foot and as a mount. When acting on its own, the Reiju can support the player, shield them, and disrupt enemies. While mounted, it unlocks dedicated riding actions, including aerial dashes, evasive movement, and strikes aimed at enemy blind spots.

The roguelite structure gives every descent a different layout, with branching paths and choices tied to rewards. A route can lead to a new Paope, a stronger companion, or a training duel against one of the legendary characters. After defeat, materials and secret arts collected during a run can be used at base to make heroes and Paope permanently stronger.

The first trailer shows the game’s action focus, hand-drawn look, and attempt to turn Fujisaki’s pages into motion. For players looking for a manga-based roguelite with a clear combat identity, HOSHiN ENGi Re:surrection already has confirmed platforms and a 2027 launch window.
