STRTL Games has announced .curator, a cinematic single-player adventure RPG written by Altered Carbon author Richard K. Morgan. The studio’s debut title is coming simultaneously to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam, although no release window has been announced yet. Its first teaser runs for roughly 30 seconds and was created entirely with actual in-game assets rendered in Unreal Engine, while also providing an early glimpse at one of the experience’s core mechanics.

Players join the Curator Corps in an alternate post-Victorian society shaped by political corruption, dangerous technology, and the remains of an ancient alien civilization. The Curator is assisted by an onboard AI named C.R.I.S.S.I. and can use a predictive technology called Quantum Sleet to model potential futures. Seeing what might happen creates an opportunity to intervene in the present, changing events and their consequences before that particular future becomes reality.

Challenges are designed around more than one possible approach. Players can investigate, fight, use stealth, distract characters, or rely on charm, while neural overclock technology can enhance physical and mental capabilities. Decisions can determine who survives, alter relationships, and reshape later events as the world reacts to the paths taken. The protagonist must also confront previous mistakes and crimes committed as a Curator, connecting the consequences of individual missions with a more personal search for redemption.

The wider investigation leads into corruption at the heart of the ruling regime and the ruins left behind by the mysterious alien civilization. Quantum Sleet can also be manipulated to respond to unexpected variables and emergencies rather than serving only as a passive view of what lies ahead. Hand-drawn characters and environments give the world its visual identity, while the presentation is built to deliver a cinematic science-fiction story without reducing the player to a passive observer.

.curator will be released as an episodic series. Its first season has already been written in full, with Episode One beginning the story at launch. The Steam page specifies that later episodes will arrive as separate DLC. A launch date, the schedule between episodes, and further availability details have not yet been announced.
