Epic Games Publishing and genDESIGN have officially unveiled gen ATLAS, the title of the new single-player open-world action-adventure game from Fumito Ueda and his studio. The project is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via the Epic Games Store, although no release date has been announced yet. The reveal gives the game its first clear identity, moving from mystery to a more concrete premise built around scale, silence, and exploration.

The story begins with an awakening on an abandoned planet that still feels alive. Ahead lies a vast and quiet world filled with colossal structures, endless plains, deserted facilities, and an ever-changing sea. The surface is covered with remnants of a grand design, suggesting that the journey will lean heavily on atmosphere and environmental discovery rather than direct explanation.
A colossal robot also plays a central role in that world. Its overwhelming power opens paths to areas that were previously out of reach, changing how the player understands the planet and its spaces. That detail points to progression shaped not only by traversal, but by a relationship with something far larger than the protagonist, capable of transforming the route through the adventure.
gen ATLAS is being positioned as the latest creation from Ueda, known for ICO, Shadow of the Colossus, and The Last Guardian. The announcement trailer frames the game around loneliness, ruins, and ancient machinery beginning to move again across an enormous span of time.
