Gravastar announced for PC and console as Studio Atma’s sci-fi fantasy JRPG

Studio Atma has announced Gravastar, a sci-fi fantasy JRPG that has been in development for more than 10 years. It is planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, although no release date has been set.

The game uses a conditional turn-based battle system built around combo inputs, giving fights a faster cadence than a standard menu-driven RPG. Its story-driven campaign runs for more than 15 hours and follows Baird, an orphan on Aethera who discovers he is a Spectre tied to the power of the stars.

Gravastar also features five playable companions, five continents to explore, and a fanatical threat that drives the story toward a larger conflict. Visually, it combines 3D animation styled after traditional 2D work with hand-painted textures to echo late-16-bit and 32-bit JRPG aesthetics.

No price, editions, or language support have been announced so far. The reveal points to a long-running project built around more active turn-based combat and a classic Japanese-style RPG structure.
