The Metro has changed after years of war and fear. The last survivors of nuclear conflict, trapped in the tunnels beneath the poisoned city, have finally been united under one leader: Hunter, a fanatical Spartan who now stands at the center of a new regime. The Novoreich rules through propaganda and terror, forcing the population toward a new war for the surface against an enemy presented as dark and terrifying.

The protagonist is The Stranger, a recluse living in the wilderness beyond Moscow and haunted by violent waking nightmares. When ghosts from his past force him out of exile, his journey pulls him through shattered ruins, tunnels, and deadly surface zones. His anger is aimed at the lies of the new order and at Hunter himself, once a legendary Ranger and protector of the Metro, now seen as the kind of enemy the Spartans once swore to fight.

The Hunter gameplay reveal focused on the return of close, claustrophobic stealth-action, tunnel and surface exploration, diegetic survival systems, and a heavy sense of atmosphere. New tools include The Shatun, a stealth weapon, and a breaching charge that expands the player’s arsenal while pushing deeper into the Metro’s darkest spaces. METRO 2039 is shaping its conflict around more than survival alone, turning the fight through Moscow into a struggle for the soul of the Metro itself.
