Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation 3 has been announced as a free-to-play team-based action game for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam. Developed by Bandai Namco Forge Digitals and published by Bandai Namco, the new entry will bring players into online battles built around mobile suit combat, with cross-play supported between both platforms. A release date has not yet been announced.
Winning a match will involve more than simply choosing a powerful machine. Each mobile suit comes with its own weapons and abilities, making team composition important when balancing long-range attacks and close-quarters fighting. Players will also be able to leave their cockpits and fight on foot, whether to plant bombs at enemy bases, call in support fire or capture objectives that could turn a battle in their team’s favor.
Between sorties, players can gather at Base Camp, a shared hub for meeting other mercenaries and preparing for the next operation. The launch lineup will draw from both the Universal Century timeline, including Mobile Suit Gundam, The 08th MS Team and Stardust Memory, and alternative Gundam universes such as Gundam SEED. Bandai Namco also plans to introduce content from two or three additional alternative-universe series during the first year after release.
Before launch, a cross-play network test is scheduled for November 20 and 22, although participation in this initial test will be limited to Japan. Three sessions are planned on each day, based on Japanese local time, and a broader open network test is also in the works. The game will support English, Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese. More details can be found on the official Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation 3 website.
