Moomin: Midsummer Madness will launch in fall 2026 for Switch 2, Switch, and PC via Steam. Shochiku Games and Crossbridge Game Studios have narrowed down the release window for the new point-and-click adventure with a trailer, while also confirming physical editions for both Nintendo consoles. The game takes Tove Jansson’s characters into a format built around exploration, conversations, and approachable puzzles.

The story draws inspiration from the novel Moominsummer Madness and puts Moomintroll and Little My at the center of the adventure. A great flood disrupts their familiar life and leads the pair to a curious old theatre, which becomes the setting for a journey filled with familiar faces, new encounters, and some playful mischief. Finding a way home means relying on friendship, curiosity, and a little theatrical magic along the way.
Its visual identity directly reflects Tove Jansson’s original artwork through richly illustrated, hand-painted backgrounds. The story unfolds across multiple chapters filled with small details for longtime Moomin fans to spot. Moomintroll and Little My will explore these environments, interact with different characters, and work through a mixture of light puzzles and mini-games without turning the journey into a demanding challenge.
Accessibility is an important part of that structure. A built-in hint system is designed to keep individual challenges manageable, while the overall pace remains relaxed and suitable for players of different ages and experience levels. Exploration will also be accompanied by a soundtrack composed specifically for the game, supporting the Nordic fairy-tale atmosphere across its various scenes.
Moomin: Midsummer Madness is also designed to work without previous knowledge of the Moomin universe. Longtime fans can look for familiar characters and visual details, while newcomers can treat the flooded valley and mysterious theatre as a self-contained introduction. A specific release date has not been announced yet, but Moomintroll and Little My will begin their new point-and-click journey on Switch 2, Switch, and PC sometime this fall.
