aNCHOR and fuzz have announced that Muv-Luv: Tactics – Kalidasa at Nightmare will launch in 2027 for PC via Steam. The new strategy entry in the Muv-Luv series puts the conflict against the BETA back at the center, with humanity fighting to survive against the invading alien species. The project was revealed alongside a new trailer and will support English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese text options.

The game is described as a tactical simulation RPG built around a self-contained story, designed to be approachable even for players with no previous knowledge of Muv-Luv. It will still retain the series’ familiar themes of military science fiction, personal drama, and extreme pressure in a world where every operation can carry serious consequences. Players will command a United Nations Forces squadron and face the alien threat from inside Tactical Surface Fighters.
Its battles will be turn-based, with a strong focus on unit placement and careful planning. Every move will need to be considered, as team positioning, target selection, and the ability to protect allies can shape the outcome of a mission. Muv-Luv: Tactics is therefore aiming for a more deliberate pace than an action RPG, where control of the battlefield and risk management matter as much as firepower.
Progression will allow players to recruit Eishi pilots, select equipment, and customize their squad’s Tactical Surface Fighters. The goal is to create a unit that can adapt to different situations through a combination of pilots, loadouts, and tactical choices. The commander’s role will go beyond simply choosing moves during combat, as player decisions can affect the fate of subordinates and determine whether an operation succeeds or fails.
The game will be single-player only and will not include online elements. That approach keeps the focus on a strategic campaign built around planning, squad development, and the tension of missions against the BETA. Muv-Luv: Tactics – Kalidasa at Nightmare is shaping up as both a new entry point into the series and a project for players looking for a story-driven turn-based strategy game about leading a military squad under pressure.
