Nintendo has announced Nintendo Switch Sports Resort for Nintendo Switch 2. The game will launch on October 22, with digital pre-orders available now for $49.99. The new entry builds on the idea of motion-control sports and expands it with 12 different activities designed for online and offline play, whether alone or with other players.

The structure is built around intuitive physical controls. Players will swing rackets, pull back and aim like archers, move together in sports such as bowling and basketball, fight in boxing, or compete in lighter activities such as Thumb Wrestling. The goal is to turn Joy-Con movement into actions that are easy to understand, quick to learn, and suitable for local multiplayer sessions.
The included sports are archery, basketball, bowling, boxing, golf, Power Cruising, Prop Plane, skateboarding, table tennis, tennis, Thumb Wrestling, and volleyball. Some activities will also use specific Joy-Con 2 features. Skateboarding lets players explore the island getaway with mouse controls, Power Cruising sends them across the waves, and Prop Plane uses controller tilting to fly freely through the sky.
Nintendo Switch Sports Resort also frames its sports around an island resort, giving the game a broader setting than a simple menu of activities. Players will be able to create and customize Sportsmate or Mii characters before jumping into matches, adding a personal identity to each athlete. Nintendo has not yet detailed how many players will be able to play together online, with that information planned for a later update. For now, the announcement makes the direction clear: Nintendo is building another accessible sports experience around movement, light competition, shared play, and the new features of Switch 2.
