OBAKEIDORO 2: Chase & Seek will launch worldwide on August 6 for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch. FREE STYLE is bringing the asymmetric multiplayer chase sequel outside Japan with a global release that also marks the game’s first appearance on Switch. Pre-orders are already available through Nintendo eShop.
The game keeps its horror tone light, leaning into a “scary-cute” identity rather than pure fear. The official website for OBAKEIDORO 2: Chase & Seek sets up the story with a strange rumor spreading at school: at 4:44, a bob-haired girl appears while searching for something, and after classes end, unfamiliar buildings, empty hallways and strange posters begin pulling the characters into the world of Monsters.
The match structure is easy to understand: Team Human faces Team Monster in three-minute rounds with support for up to eight online players. Monsters win by catching every Human and putting them in jail before time runs out. Humans win if even one teammate manages to stay free until the timer expires. That simple objective gives each round a clear rhythm, with chases, rescues and sudden reversals packed into a short session.
Monsters rely on traits and skills that increase the pressure of the hunt, including wall passing, high-speed movement and stronger capture attacks. Humans have to survive through teamwork instead, jumping across floors to create distance, carrying allies to safety and using the Lantern to stun Monsters long enough to escape. Getting caught does not end a player’s role, because teammates can break prisoners out, although a Monster camping the jail can turn a rescue attempt into another capture.
The game includes several modes built around different play styles. Quick Match connects players online, with maps rotating every hour and eight-player matches available at specific times. Room Match lets players create private rooms with passwords or Room IDs, while Join Friends makes it easier to enter sessions already in progress. Single-Player Chase & Seek offers a calmer way to play and is also the best mode for earning Coins, which unlock new Monsters and Lanterns.
Local play is also a major part of the package. Local Party Chase & Seek supports up to eight players through multiple Switch systems, while Split-Screen Chase & Seek allows up to four players on one system. On Switch 2, Game Share across two systems will let some players join without owning the software. With custom rules, adjustable Monster-to-Human ratios and short matches, OBAKEIDORO 2: Chase & Seek is shaped as a fast, accessible party game where panic and teamwork collide quickly.
