Outward 2 will enter Early Access on PC on July 7, with launch planned on Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG. A closed beta is scheduled to start on May 26. The sequel from Nine Dots Studio builds on the original game’s survival-focused RPG structure while tightening combat and progression.

Set in Aurai, the game casts players as ordinary adventurers rather than chosen heroes. Preparation matters at every step: managing supplies, deciding when to drop the backpack in a fight, scouting enemy routes, and using traps are all part of the loop. Death is not a reset button, since the journey continues with the consequences of what happened.
Confirmed features include three starting scenarios, eleven backgrounds, a full seasonal cycle, and four distinct regions with their own biomes and gameplay traits. The new Exercise system is designed to make growth depend on how you play, while ritual spellcasting, more varied weapon combinations, and improved animations aim to make combat feel more deliberate and responsive. Nine Dots Publishing is listed as publisher, with Nine Dots Studio developing the project.
Outward 2 also includes two-player co-op in both local split-screen and online play, which should make the harshest expeditions easier to handle without changing the game’s demanding tone. The closed beta in late May will give players an early look at how the sequel balances survival pressure, exploration, and tactical combat before Early Access opens in July.
