SPINE now has a release window. Nekki’s single-player action game will launch in summer 2027 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The announcement arrived with a new gameplay trailer during the Future Games Show, giving a clearer look at the game’s blend of close-quarters gunfights, beat ’em up flow and action movie-style choreography.

The story follows Redline, a rebellious street artist living in Tensor City, a cyberpunk megacity ruled by an autocratic AI regime. After a mafia heist goes wrong, Redline loses everything, including her brother, and fights back with Spine, a sentient combat implant with a mind of its own. The city is split between the gleaming New City above and the decaying Old City below, while the Social Rating decides who eats, works and gets discarded.
The new trailer introduces Judge, Tensor City’s supreme leader, alongside Tensor’s Children, Edda Kopp and Malady, all equipped with Spines of their own. It also shows directional attacks, parries, dodges, environmental strikes and several bosses, moving through tangled underground laboratories, the cliffs of the City’s Greenhouse and a fight on top of a high-speed train.
Combat is the core of SPINE’s identity. Nekki describes it as Freeflow Gun Fu, where firearms, melee strikes, movement and dynamic camera work combine without taking control away from the player. The fight choreography is being shaped with help from action movie stunt specialists, while the game runs on Unreal Engine 5 and Nekki’s Cascadeur animation engine to make each encounter feel physical and readable.
Players who want to track SPINE until launch can use the Playority Calendar to save the game to their account, receive notifications and keep personalized updates organized around release windows, platforms and new trailers.
