Steins;Gate Re:Boot now has two Western release dates: August 20 for Xbox Series and PC via Steam, followed by October 29 for PS5, Switch 2, PS4 and Switch. In Japan, all of those platforms are set for August 20.
The game revisits the 2009 visual novel with a full visual overhaul and new narrative content. Confirmed additions include a reworked story based on Steins;Gate Elite, a brand-new worldline and ending scenario, newly recorded Japanese voice lines, and a remade soundtrack.
Spike Chunsoft also says the script has been expanded, while all character art, backgrounds and event stills have been redrawn from scratch. On the practical side, PS5, Switch 2 and Switch will be sold both physically and digitally, with a $59.99 standard edition and a $69.99 physical SteelBook edition.
For Japan, text support includes English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese, with Japanese audio. The estimated playtime is around 30 to 50 hours.
The reboot also keeps the series’ branching structure intact, with player choices still driving different story routes and endings. That makes the new release more than a visual refresh: it adds new narrative material while preserving the decision-based framework that defined the original game.
The split schedule is the key practical detail for players. Anyone on Xbox Series or PC can mark August 20, while PS5, Switch 2, PS4 and Switch users will have to wait until October 29.
