Total War: SHOGUN 2 Complete Edition will launch on October 13, 2026 for PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store. SEGA and Creative Assembly are bringing the strategy classic back in a complete, updated release that bundles the base game, all downloadable content, and a range of technical and practical improvements.
The core remains pure Total War: turn-based empire management and real-time tactical battles set in feudal Japan. Players build alliances, sabotage rival clans, lead armies, develop castles, and use diplomacy, war, and subterfuge to climb toward the title of Shogun.
The Complete Edition also includes Rise of the Samurai and Fall of the Samurai, expanding the timeline from the rise of the first Shogun to the end of the samurai era. That gives the package a broader historical sweep, with different campaigns, armies, and political pressures changing how each conquest unfolds.
On the technical side, this version adds improved visuals, updated lighting, enhanced shadows, revised textures, 1440p and 4K interface scaling, modernized controls, and a 64-bit upgrade. Full Japanese and Chinese voice acting and text localization are also included, alongside integrated in-game mod support through Mod.io.
The biggest addition for returning players is the inclusion of more than 50 newly playable minor factions. That opens up many more strategic starting points, political identities, and campaign conditions, giving veterans fresh reasons to revisit the map of Japan beyond the familiar major powers.
Multiplayer remains a major part of the package, with Avatar Conquest, cooperative and competitive campaigns, and hosted custom battle lobbies for up to eight players.
