Waste The Fallen brings Lovecraftian horror to the extraction shooter

Royal Crow has announced Waste The Fallen, a first-person extraction shooter for PC set in a collapsed world consumed by cosmic horror. Its reveal will be followed by a North American Closed Alpha running from September 4 at 7:00 p.m. PDT through September 8 at 11:59 p.m. PDT. The first gameplay footage introduces a PvPvE structure where grotesque creatures and rival players can turn every expedition into a fight to make it back alive.

Each run sends players into the Deep, a hostile region populated by the Fallen and competing scavengers known as Deviants. Pushing farther into dangerous territory improves the quality of weapons, materials, and rare items that can be found, but also makes the creatures more threatening. Expeditions can be tackled solo or in squads of up to three, with players deciding whether to fight, retreat, avoid rivals, or hunt other Deviants for their loot.

The horror extends beyond the monsters themselves. A Sanity system adds psychological pressure to exploration, while distant sounds and gunfire can reveal danger before an enemy appears. Every Deviant also carries a Bio-Arm that can be upgraded using resources recovered during runs, gradually opening access to new abilities.

Between expeditions, players return to a hideout where crafting stations can be improved, blueprints unlocked, and stronger equipment prepared. A larger safebox protects more recovered items after failure, while accessible crafting is intended to make recovery from a bad run less punishing. Waste The Fallen is therefore built around extraction-shooter tension without making a single failed raid erase everything earned along the way.
