Wild Blue Skies launches on August 13 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam. The announcement also confirms the teams behind it: Balor Games is publishing, while Chuhai Labs and VITEI Backroom are developing the project. It is an on-rails shooter built around arcade aerial combat, mission-based progression, branching routes, and enemy forces led by Grimclaw.
The game is framed as a modern take on 1990s rail shooters. Its controls are designed to be easy to pick up, but the score system still pushes players to master each stage. The action moves across oceans, desert ridges, and caves, with boss fights, dogfights against a rival squad, and secret paths that can change how each run unfolds.
Allies are part of the campaign as well, so the structure is not limited to solo dogfights and target shooting. Wild Blue Skies also uses a hand-crafted anime-style presentation, with colorful environments and a route-based layout that adds variety to the pace of the missions. The result is a straightforward release-date update, but one that also clarifies the shape of the game arriving in August.
