Hela has been renamed Hela: of Mice & Magic, with Knights Peak Games and Windup Games announcing the change alongside a new deep dive trailer. The video gives a closer look at the game’s world, its music, and the small-scale perspective at the center of the adventure.
The new title is meant to reflect the project’s core ideas rather than act as a cosmetic update. According to the announcement, “of Mice & Magic” highlights the two pillars of the game: the abilities of the mice and the magic running through the world. Players take on the role of a small but agile mouse helping a kind witch care for the land she has protected for generations.

The trailer also outlines the kind of spaces players will move through. Forests, meadows, wetlands, and burrows are all part of the journey, and the game can be played alone or together. The witch’s magic-infused backpack expands movement and interaction, which suggests exploration will rely on using the environment in creative ways rather than on direct combat-focused systems. That design choice also fits the calmer tone shown in the trailer, where movement and discovery appear to matter more than speed or aggression.
Music is another major part of the pitch. The soundtrack is composed by Frida Johansson and Henrik Oja, both known for their work on the Unravel series, and the announcement says the score changes with the surroundings. Near homes and settlements, it is described as fuller and clearer; in the forest, it becomes more atmospheric and leaves room for natural ambient sounds. That points to a game that is trying to make atmosphere part of the structure, not just the backdrop. The result is a presentation that ties audio, setting, and exploration together instead of treating them as separate features.
Hela: of Mice & Magic is due in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, PC via Steam, and the Epic Games Store. No exact release date has been given, but the new trailer makes the game’s identity easier to read: a cooperative open-world adventure built around nature, discovery, and a very small hero. The title change now feels directly connected to that identity, with the new branding reinforcing the contrast between tiny characters and a large, expressive world.
