Nacon and crea-ture Studios have announced Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Rageborn, an action adventure with metroidvania structure coming to PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2 and PC via Steam. The game is built around a clear idea: shapeshifting is not a side feature, but the core system that drives traversal, combat and progression.

Set in Alaska, the story follows Taylor, a young man who becomes a Garou after an eco-activist friend is killed in front of him. From that moment, the game shifts into a journey of revenge and identity across a land touched by corruption, with the broader threat tied to the struggle to defend Gaia. That gives the premise a stronger narrative frame than a simple monster-hunting setup, while still keeping the focus on action and exploration.

Three forms define the gameplay. Homid is the human form, suited to ranged weapons, firearms and mobility. Lupus is the wolf form, designed for agility, stealth and traversal. Crinos is the war form, built for close combat and for smashing through obstacles. Each form solves different problems, so the player is constantly asked to switch depending on the enemy, the terrain or the route ahead rather than relying on one preferred loadout.

The RPG layer adds more depth through mystical roots, new powers and a wide set of Gift combinations that can shape different builds. The world is described as interconnected and full of secrets, with areas that become accessible again as new abilities are earned. That structure should encourage backtracking in a meaningful way, since previously blocked paths can turn into new opportunities for combat, resources and exploration.

For now, no release date has been announced, but the first reveal already makes the game’s direction easy to read: a shapeshifting-focused metroidvania with a strong setting, distinct combat forms and a progression system built around adaptation.
