Firevolt has announced Kingfish, a two-player co-op roguelite city builder set on the back of an ancient leviathan that serves as the kingdom’s moving foundation. The setup is deliberately asymmetric: one player takes control of the King on the ground, while the other plays as the giant Fish, overseeing the wider layout, production, and defenses from above.

The game comes from Firevolt, the studio behind WheelMates, and blends resource management, construction, real-time strategy, and third-person combat. The split between the two roles is the core of the design: the King handles the settlement, the villagers, and immediate threats, while the Fish keeps track of production, warns about approaching dangers, and supports the fight with powerful spells.
Each run brings a fresh city to build, along with new characters, buildings, and artifacts to discover. Returning villagers also provide special perks for both roles, giving each attempt some continuity even as the city layout and challenges change. Kingfish is scheduled for 2027 on PC via Steam and on consoles that have not yet been named.
No further details have been shared yet on price, language support, or a narrower release window, but the announcement already makes the structure clear: constant coordination will be essential to keep the kingdom alive on the leviathan’s back.
