Worms: Galactic Tactics has been announced for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam, with a 2027 launch planned. Team17 and developer Absolutely Games are taking the series into tactical roguelike territory, moving the usual explosive chaos onto fully destructible 3D battlefields built around positioning, upgrades and disastrous misfires.

The main mode is the Galactic Gauntlet, a multi-stage deathmatch where every fight brings new enemies, stronger tools and fresh opportunities to ruin the landscape. The goal is to climb the ranks and eventually face Emperor Flugg, giving the campaign the shape of an intergalactic competition rather than a simple chain of isolated battles.
The familiar Worms rhythm is still there: move carefully, line up the shot, read the terrain and accept that even a good plan can collapse in seconds. The arenas can be destroyed piece by piece, with weapons, gadgets, explosive barrels and vertical positioning all feeding into each turn. Taking the high ground can improve aim, while attacks use skill-based minigames that decide whether a shot becomes a critical hit or another embarrassing failure.
The roguelike layer comes through weapon mods and run-based progression. After each battle, players can choose new ways to reshape their arsenal, from stronger bazooka blasts and life-draining Fire Punch attacks to shields, stuns, ally buffs and absurd tools like the Cosmic Donkey, Beambow, Meteor Sheep and Die-napple. When the squad eventually falls, collected Juice can be spent to upgrade the worms before jumping back into the Gauntlet.
Outside the campaign, Worms: Galactic Tactics will support 1v1 multiplayer both locally and online, with squad customization covering hats, voices and gravestones. Players tracking the game alongside other 2027 releases can use the Playority Calendar to save games to their account, receive notifications and keep personalized updates organized around dates and platforms.
