Microsoft has updated the Game Pass catalog for early to mid May with a lineup that combines day-one launches, games moving into additional subscription tiers, and a few titles that are about to leave the service. What stands out most is not just the number of additions, but the range of genres on offer: narrative adventure, survival, souls-like action, first-person shooting, racing, puzzle adventure, card play, and cooperative simulation all appear in the same wave.
One of the biggest additions is Mixtape, which launches day one through Xbox Game Pass on cloud, Xbox Series X|S, Handheld, and PC. Developed by Beethoven & Dinosaur, it focuses on adolescence, music, and the uneasy transition into adulthood, making it very different in tone from the more combat-driven releases in the same update. Day one also includes Call of the Elder Gods, a narrative puzzle adventure that continues the Lovecraftian direction of Call of the Sea, along with Outbound, which centers on exploration, crafting, and life aboard a customizable mobile home in cooperative play.
Subnautica 2 is another major arrival, joining Game Preview on cloud, Xbox Series X|S, Handheld, and PC. Developed by Unknown Worlds, the sequel moves to a new alien planet and keeps base building, tool crafting, and underwater exploration at the core, while also supporting four-player co-op.
WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers joins the catalog as a souls-like action RPG set in the final days of the Ming Dynasty, and Wildgate adds a PvPvE multiplayer shooter that blends ship-to-ship tactics with fast first-person combat.
Several existing games are also moving into Game Pass Premium. DOOM: The Dark Ages joins Premium in addition to Ultimate and PC Game Pass, as do WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers, Descenders Next, and Wheel World. Wheel World is a semi-open biking adventure that mixes exploration with races and route planning, while Descenders Next continues the extreme sports focus with snowboarding and mountainboarding. Elite Dangerous remains available on cloud and console through Ultimate and Premium, preserving its place as a long-running space sandbox.
The rest of the lineup broadens the catalog even further with more unconventional picks. Black Jacket brings a purgatorial card game to Game Pass, reimagining blackjack as a dark, punishing wager between restless souls. That kind of variety is what makes the update notable: instead of leaning on one blockbuster genre, the service is spreading its value across very different kinds of play, from narrative-driven indies to larger-scale action and survival projects.
There are also some departures on the way. Final Fantasy V, Ben 10 Power Trip, and Descenders Next will leave the catalog soon, so anyone who wants to finish them or keep them in their account still has a limited window to act. That ongoing rotation is a key part of Game Pass, since the service changes as much through removals as it does through new arrivals.
