Sony has announced the PlayStation Plus Essential Monthly Games for October 2026. Subscribers can add Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2, F1 25, and Hunt: Showdown 1896 to their libraries starting October 6. The first game is available on both PS5 and PS4; F1 25 and Hunt: Showdown 1896 are part of the lineup on PS5.
Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 turns the series’ battles against giant invaders into an adventure across a block-shaped Earth. Soldiers scattered around the world can be rescued and recruited, giving players more options when assembling a four-person team. Choosing the right combination of characters and equipment is part of preparing for each fight. The roster draws from the main Earth Defense Force games and their spin-offs, while the enemies include returning threats in a voxel style as well as new creatures. Up to four players can fight together online, and two can play locally in split-screen.
F1 25 is the official game of the 2025 FIA Formula One World Championship. Its single-player options include Career and My Team 2.0; the latter puts players in charge of a Formula 1 team as its owner. Online, a new F1 World multiplayer mode lets friends race together as a squad against AI drivers. It gives this month’s selection a racing game alongside two titles built around combat.
Hunt: Showdown 1896 takes the lineup in another direction. The extraction shooter sends players after monstrous bosses whose bounties are also being pursued by rival Hunters. Defeating a target is not enough to secure the reward: the team still has to make it out of the area. Players can enter alone or hunt with up to two teammates, with other players and the creatures in the environment standing between them and a successful extraction.
All three titles join the Monthly Games selection on October 6. For upcoming PS5 releases beyond the subscription lineup, the Playority PS5 calendar shows what is coming next and lets players follow games through their accounts for updates.
