Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks will launch digitally on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series on May 21. A physical PS5 edition is set for July 16, giving the game a split rollout between digital availability and retail release.
The game is a multiplayer combat racer set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, developed by Caged Element and published by Wired Productions. Its structure mixes armored buggies, tanks and helicopters with online matches that can also be played against bots. The main modes include Deff Rally, an 8v8 combat race built around speed, aggression and teamwork, and Kill Konvoy, where each side protects its own Stompa while trying to wreck the enemy’s run to the finish line.
On PC, the game first arrived in Early Access on Steam on August 6, 2024, before reaching its full release on May 22, 2025. The console debut brings the same core formula to a new audience, while keeping the emphasis on fast races, vehicle variety and combat-driven objectives.
A key extra is the Creation Workshop, which lets players build, share and download custom maps. The level editor includes more than 400 assets and supports solo creation or real-time collaboration, adding a practical layer of replay value beyond the standard tracks.
For players waiting on consoles, May 21 marks the digital launch, while the July 16 physical PS5 edition gives retail buyers a later option.
