YO-KAI WATCH 2: Haunted Domain has been announced for Nintendo Switch 2 as a remake of Yo-kai Watch 2, the RPG originally released for Nintendo 3DS. No release date has been announced yet, but the direction is already clear: LEVEL-5 is keeping the core of the second entry while rebuilding its presentation with completely revamped graphics.
The original game followed Nathan “Nate” Adams or Katie Forester through an open world RPG adventure focused on finding, befriending, and battling Yo-kai, creatures inspired by ghosts and apparitions from Japanese folklore. Its story began with the Yo-kai Watch being stolen and the protagonist losing their memories of previous adventures, before Whisper and Jibanyan returned to bring the journey back into motion.
Yo-kai Watch 2 originally arrived through multiple versions, with Bony Spirits and Fleshy Souls as the main releases and Psychic Specters later adding extra content. Haunted Domain starts from that foundation, but it is not being framed as a basic port. LEVEL-5 is also developing new features, additional story content, and new Yo-kai, giving the remake room to feel broader than a visual refresh.
The central appeal remains the same kind of RPG loop that made the second game a major entry in the series: everyday exploration, hidden creatures, battles, collection, and team building. In the original, players could use befriended Yo-kai in combat, collect medals, evolve certain creatures, and gradually expand the Yo-kai Medallium while moving through the main quest and side content.
For now, YO-KAI WATCH 2: Haunted Domain has one confirmed platform, Nintendo Switch 2, and an announcement teaser trailer. The official website for YO-KAI WATCH 2: Haunted Domain lists it as an RPG designed and produced by LEVEL-5.
