Aniimo brings open-world creature catching to consoles and PC in September

Aniimo will launch on September 16, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store, alongside iOS and Android versions. Developed by Pawprint Studio and published by Kingsglory, the free-to-play open-world creature-catching action RPG takes players to the continent of Idyll, a vast environment populated by the creatures that give the game its name. Two paid editions are already available to pre-order through the PlayStation Store.

Exploration revolves around capturing Aniimo with Aniipods, setting traps, and choosing the right moment to attempt a catch. Which creatures appear can depend on the environment, weather, phenomena, and time of day, while most Aniimo are also capable of evolving. Collecting is connected to the Twine system, which allows a Pathfinder to effectively become one of the Aniimo they have captured and directly use its abilities.

Those transformations play a role in both combat and traversal. Aniimo skills can solve puzzles and overcome different challenges, while Idyll supports movement including gliding, diving, and burrowing. The world also contains a metropolis floating in the sky, where Pathfinders can meet one another and take part in competitive battles, adding multiplayer activities alongside the broader exploration.

One of those online activities is Egg Heist, a PvEvP mode set across the Lost Isles. Three-player teams can enter real-time searches and battles, introducing a more competitive structure to the creature-catching loop. Every Pathfinder also owns a personal RV that can be parked at campsites around the open world, providing places to meet other players. Back at their Homeland, players can grow crops, build decorations, and arrange their space alongside their collected Aniimo.

On PlayStation 5, the €9.99 Advanced Edition includes the PlayStation pre-order-exclusive Fluffy Friend accessory, the Advanced Companion Handbook, and additional rewards. The €23.99 Collector’s Edition adds the Collector’s Companion Handbook, an exclusive doll, and an avatar frame. Both handbooks include a Prismana Aniimo Egg with Perfect Potential and an evolution material used for its branching evolution.
